My name is Andrew Sousa Reis, from Visalia, CA. I attended Immanuel High School in Reedley, CA, where I played football and began developing an interest in the social sciences, namely history, but specifically politics. Studying politics reflects my interest to one day become a public servant, such as a District Attorney or working for a government agency. The purpose of government is to create policies and provide services to the people with the intentions of continually improving the status quo living standard. This idea motivated me to strive for academic success at the community college level so that I could transfer to a University that might provide the best opportunity upon graduation to achieve my professional goals. I performed well in community college and was accepted into UC Davis under the majors of Political Science and Sociology: Organizational Studies in the College of Letters and Science commencing back in Fall 2009. Just prior to beginning at UC Davis, I held an internship with California Assemblywoman Connie Conway, 34th district for a few months where I was directly involved in the day to day operations of the state legislative process. I joined AGR later in my college career, however am grateful to be able to be a contributing active member for my remaining year at UC Davis. I hope to continue my education into a law school somewhere in California next year.
